All passengers will be required to undergo home quarantine for 7 days and will be required to undergo an RT-PCR test on the eighth day of arrival in India
Travel agents have expressed uncertainty over travel from the UAE to India and vice versa after India imposed a mandatory 7-day home quarantine for inbound travelers from January 11.
“On Friday, the decision was announced; however, it is very early to come to a conclusion,” said Mir Wasim Raja, Director, MICE and Holidays, Galadari International Travel Services.
India’s Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has announced that all international arrivals must undergo a mandatory seven-day home quarantine upon arrival in India.
Passengers must also undergo an RT-PCR test on the eighth day of arrival. The ministry has updated the rules for travelers to India given the growing prevalence of the Omicron variant.
Travel agents say a clear picture of travel trends and status between the two countries will emerge in the coming days.
“Business travel can affect both inbound and outbound passengers,” Raja said.
“People traveling for two days on a business visit may not want to limit themselves to seven days of quarantine. But I think this new travel update may not affect tourists. from India to Dubai,” added Raja.
Although not all travelers from the United Arab Emirates are required to take an RT-PCR test upon arrival, depending on the state they are traveling to, 2% of randomly selected passengers are required to be tested after arrival. arrival at the airport. Some states, such as Kerala and Maharashtra, test all passengers upon arrival.
The list of randomly selected passengers on each flight would be identified by the airlines involved, and labs were told to prioritize testing samples from those travellers.
However, all passengers are expected to undergo seven-day home quarantine and undergo an RT-PCR test on the eighth day of arrival in India.
