Nearly 1800 companies set up in Ajman Free Zone in 2021

Ajman Free Zone announced its operational performance results for 2021 and marked an increase in the number of registered businesses by 1,792.

The 4% growth achieved by AFZ compared to 2020 indicates the growing confidence of investors and foreign companies in the free zone’s portfolio of facilities and incentives. The results also indicated a high occupancy rate of offices, warehouses and commercial spaces within the AFZ, an increase in sources of inward investment and an increase in exports and re-exports.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Board of the Ajman Free Zones Authority, said, “As an organization that occupies a leadership position in making vital contributions to the growth and to the diversification of the national economy, the AFZ will continue to offer solutions and an ideal environment for business growth and expansion, to attract companies from all over the world. AFZ has earned its position as a strategic destination for regional and international investment.

The previous year, AFZ also recorded an occupancy rate of 90% of rental accommodation, which covers more than 867,000 m², reflecting the dynamism of commercial and investment activities. Ajman Free Zone has extensive commercial facilities, 530 warehouses, over 7,000 offices and 4 commercial complexes.

AFZ, also marked a new milestone in 2021, following the successful automation and 100% digitization of its services. During this period, the AFZ also carried out more than 240,000 electronic transactions through its client portal, a smart platform that offers a range of five-star solutions for government digital services.

In addition, Ajman Free Zone has also strengthened its leading position as an active contributor to export and re-export activities within Ajman, with the AFZ contributing 22% of total export activities and 24% of total re-export activities in Ajman in 2021.
