According to Dubai police, the man was arrested after the broadcast.
The hotel apartment was damaged and parts were ripped open before the fire was extinguished.
A hotel manager alleged the man had been creating trouble at the hotel for the past two months.
“He was reported to the police 11 times by residents and staff and he was detained twice before being released,” the hotel manager said.
He said the tenant had rented the apartment from its landlord.
In another video, the man used furniture to block the front door, claiming security guards were trying to enter his apartment.
The hotel manager claimed that his cell phone number was also mentioned in the live broadcast.
“I received many strange calls after that. I answered a call from a woman who told me about the live video. I clicked on the video on Instagram and saw the man damage the apartment,” the official claimed, adding that he had also filed a defamation suit against the man.
Dubai police had to break into the door of the apartment and arrest the man who allegedly put a strip on the smoke detector.
“The man has been arrested and will be charged,” a Dubai Police official said, adding, “This is not the first time the police have been called in to deal with this person.”
