His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum said: âToday I chaired the last cabinet meeting for 2021. We looked at what we did during the year. The meeting, held at EXPO 2020 Dubai, was attended by His Royal Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Governor of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance; His Royal Highness Lieutenant-General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior; and His Royal Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs.
The Cabinet reviewed a detailed report prepared by the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics highlighting the performance of the UAE government in 2021. The report listed laws and regulations that have enriched the legislative environment and improved performance UAE in Global Competitiveness Reports, ranking the country first globally in 152 indicators, top 5 out of 274 indicators, and top 10 countries out of 425 global indicators.
Commenting on the report, His Highness said: âIn 2021, our teams worked to improve the UAE’s global competitiveness, making our country the first in the world on 152 indicators. The UAE economy is the most regionally attractive for foreign investment and the first in the world to attract talent. The UAE’s performance in 2021 has been exceptional. “
His Highness also said, âThe UAE has been awarded the highest sovereign rating in the region and has ranked first in the region in rule of law and transparency. Our science and mathematics education is the best regionally. In addition, the UAE ranked second globally for government adaptability and was the most pandemic resistant. “

The Cabinet approved the establishment of the UAE Industry Development Council with the aim of overseeing the implementation of UAE Industry Strategy initiatives and projects.
The mandate of the Council is to support industrial development capacity and promote entrepreneurship. The Council proposes appropriate initiatives that strengthen cooperation and the exchange of experiences and expertise between the different government entities concerned with the industrial sector and advanced technologies, in addition to consolidating cooperation between the public and private sectors.
The Industry Development Council is also responsible for coordinating with federal and local government entities with the aim of developing policies and legislation necessary for the growth of the industrial sector, adopting unified performance indicators and publishing periodic reports to assess industrial performance.
By decision of the Council of Ministers, the Industrial Development Council is set up for a renewable three-year term, headed by the Minister of Industry and Advanced Technologies, and composed of: The Minister of State in charge of Foreign Trade at Ministry of the Economy, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure.
Also members are: the Director General of the Federal Center for Competitiveness and Statistics, the Director General of the Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, the Secretary General of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Undersecretary of Economic Development Department in Abu Dhabi, Director General of Economic Development Department in Dubai, Director General of Economic Development Department in Sharjah, Director General of Economic Development Department in Ajman, the Director General of the Department of Economic Development in Ras Al Khaimah, the Director General of the Department of Economic Development in Umm Al Quwain, the Director General of the Department of Industry and Economy in Fujairah, the Undersecretary deputy for support and defense industries at the Ministry of Defense, Assistant Undersecretary of the Political and Strategic Sector e at the Ministry of Human Resources rces and Emiratization and CEO of the Emirates Development Bank.
The Council of Ministers approved the budget of the General Authority for Pensions and Social Security for the financial year 2022.
The Cabinet approved federal law regarding the regulation of places of worship for non-Muslims, with the aim of consolidating the values ââof tolerance and coexistence in UAE society. The law includes the conditions and controls for the granting of licenses.
The Cabinet approved the organizational structure of the Federal Center for Geographic Information.
