Emirates News Agency – Ajman Free Zone reaffirms its strong position as an investment and business destination with 1,792 new businesses in 2021

AJMAN, 21st February, 2022 (WAM) — Ajman Free Zone has announced its operational performance results for 2021 and marked an increase in the number of registered businesses by 1,792.

The four percent growth achieved by the AFZ compared to 2020 indicates the growing confidence of foreign investors and companies in the free zone’s portfolio of facilities and incentives. The results also showed a high occupancy rate of offices, warehouses and commercial spaces within the AFZ, an increase in sources of inward investment and an increase in exports and re-exports.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Chairman of the Board of Ajman Free Zones Authority, said, “As an organization that occupies a leadership position in making vital contributions to the growth and diversification of the national economy, the AFZ will continue to offer solutions and an ideal environment for business growth and expansion, to attract companies from all over the world. AFZ has earned its position as a strategic destination for regional and international investment.

He added, “Commitment to the development of its services and operations, the achievement of strategic objectives to support business partners, the establishment of integrated pillars of the business environment recognizing the wide range of facilities and incentives , the development of infrastructure and the quality and efficiency of electronic services, are some of the reasons for the success of the AFZ.”

The previous year, the AFZ also recorded an occupancy rate of 90% of rental accommodation, which covers more than 867,000 square meters, reflecting the dynamism of commercial and investment activities. The free zone has extensive commercial facilities, 530 warehouses, more than 7,000 offices and four commercial complexes.

AFZ also marked another milestone in 2021, having achieved 100% automation and digitization of its services. During this period, it has also delivered over 240,000 electronic transactions through its Customer Portal, an intelligent platform that offers a range of five-star solutions for government digital services.

In addition, the free zone has also strengthened its leading position as an active contributor to export and re-export activities in Ajman, contributing 22% of total export activities and 24% of total re-export activities in Ajman in 2021.

In 2021, AFZ marked many milestones in its leadership journey by winning prestigious global awards and accolades, including seventh place in the Financial Times’ annual FDI Global Free Zones ranking.
