In line with current tourism trends, many resorts and hotels in the city have an enduring commitment to sustainability and are making positive strides in the hospitality industry.

Say no to plastic

LEVA Hotels assumed its responsibility during the first months of the year by collecting more than 300 kg of plastic. From January 2022 to May 2022, they partnered with Emirates Environmental Group to work on one of their biggest initiatives, One Root, One Communi-tree (OROC).

“Before the Paramount Hotel Midtown welcomed its first stars, we were exploring all opportunities to promote sustainability in the hotel. A filtered water system and luxury toiletries dispensers were initiatives that meant we opened without single-use plastic water bottles or toiletries, the two biggest contributors to plastic waste in the hotels,” said Nicholas Chalmers, director and general manager of Paramount Midtown. Plus, the property has been 100% plastic straw-free since day one.

Save electricity

The Radisson Blu Dubai Creek has received Green Globe certification after undertaking several initiatives related to its green program, including recycling, water and electricity conservation, and attention to food waste.

Canal Central Hotel, Business Bay, a recipient of Green Key certification, has adopted greener guidelines through energy saving projects, including ensuring air conditions are turned off when not used and replacing old devices that lead to an increased carbon footprint. At Paramount Midtown, the hotel has installed filtered water dispensers to provide fresh filtered still and sparkling water, in glass bottles, to hotel guests across the property; restaurants, bars, hotel rooms and suites. Water in plastic bottles is neither sold nor served in the hotel.

Paperless check-in and check-out

LEVA uses eco-friendly practices, such as paperless digital check-in and check-out, and eco-friendly amenities placed in each guest room. Also at the Canal Central Hotel, guest check-in and check-out processes are paperless, reducing property supply costs and conserving more trees.
