A massive fire that broke out on the roof of a hotel in Dubai on Wednesday afternoon was brought under control by firefighters within 18 minutes, Dubai Civil Defense said.
Authorities said the fire destroyed several air conditioners on the roof of the Swissotel Al Murooj hotel in the Burj Khalifa area. The cause of the fire remains uncertain.
The building was immediately evacuated for life safety as firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.
The operations room received a report of the fire, which sent thick plumes of black smoke over downtown Dubai, at 3:19 p.m.
Firefighters from Zabeel, Al Rashidiya and Barsha stations were immediately dispatched, reaching the site in just four minutes. The fire was brought under control at 3:41 p.m., before cooling operations began 10 minutes later.
No casualties or injuries were reported.
Officials said the crash has been referred to the proper authorities for further investigation.
