Located in the heart of Dubai’s bustling financial district, Fairmont Dubai is currently the subject of phase I of SAY Studio’s rollout plan aimed at renovating all of the hotel brand’s private spaces.

According to CBRE UAE Q3 2021 market review; As travel restrictions continue to be relaxed around the world, we are seeing a marked increase in the number of daily flights through or to Dubai. The average daily number of flights has reached highs close to 96,000 in the 30e September 2021. Although this figure is still 20.7% lower than the same period in 2019, as vaccination rates continue to rise and travel restrictions are made less onerous, we expect what the gap narrows.

STR’s hotel performance update in the Middle East in the third quarter of 2021; Interestingly, in September the hotel occupancy rate in the Middle East was 58.6%, which was the region’s highest level since February 2020 and 93.9% of comparable 2019 (62.4% %). These levels reflect a steady upward trend, with the region’s occupancy rate of 50.7% in July and 55.9% in August, representing 83.8% and 88.6% of the area, respectively. comparable value of 2019.

Phase I provides for the renovation of 275 rooms and suites, as part of an initiative to further improve the hotel guest experience. Spanning three categories, including Signature Rooms, Junior Suites, and One-Bedroom Suites designed for the modern business traveler, the rooms have been refurbished to add a modern touch while retaining the luxury and standard guests have come to expect. expect Fairmont hotels. around the world. In the bedrooms, SAY Studio used a soft palette and natural materials representative of those one might find in the surrounding landscape. The warm timbers, to represent the soft tones of the dunes, complemented by the deep ocean blues found in the carpet and furniture, are a subtle reference to the Persian Gulf views. The occasional use of satin bronze displayed in bespoke fixtures pays homage to the early decadence of the Fairmont in San Francisco. Finally, textured wall coverings add a sense of depth and luxury, making the environment warm and inviting.

Rasha Al-Tekreeti, Senior Interior Designer at SAY Studio, said: “When we started the project, we were inspired by two distinct points, Fairmont’s rich history and Dubai’s innate ambitions for greatness. It’s easy to see Dubai in the form it occupies today, a vibrant cosmopolitan city that pushes boundaries and sets global standards. But if you go back to a few decades ago, things were quite different. We felt a symbolic representation of the city’s diversity and development, and the inspiring ambition could be found in the vibrancy of its location. It perfectly balances the idea of travel and destination. The ambition was to create an atmosphere that is both timeless and classic that respects both the history of Fairmont and Dubai.

Kosta Kourotsidis, General Manager of Fairmont Dubai added: “We are very pleased that Fairmont Dubai is undergoing such an important transformation. The renovation project has been the subject of careful planning and scrutiny and we are proud to announce that we have appointed the design firm Say Studio, to offer a design that exudes modernity, comfort and comfort. best-in-class taste while maintaining luxury and standard throughout the hotel. “I can assure you that a whole new Fairmont Dubai experience is coming, it will be worth the wait.

Phase II includes the redesign of all public spaces including; the main lobby, lobby extension and cafe as well as the valet parking entrance. Phase III will see the redesign of the Fairmont’s all-day dining room. In addition to the work for the Fairmont Dubai, SAY Studio was also appointed as a design agency to complete the refurbishment of the Fairmont Ajman and Fairmont Fujairah.

Matthew Sexton, Managing Director of SAY Studio, concluded: “We are delighted that our work on this project has extended well beyond the initial brief. We are discussing with several hotel brands simultaneously, all with similar instructions to modernize rooms and public spaces to attract the increasing number of visitors due to both the Expo and the peak tourist season.

Known for its unique exterior inspired by an Arabian Wind Tower, the 34-story property houses 394 rooms and suites, 12 dining and entertainment venues including The Theater, OPA and Bagatelle, Bistrot Novanta, a unique hotel spa spanning 40,000 square feet and two rooftop swimming pools.

Dubai hotel occupancy rate reaches 80.7% thanks to high number of visitor arrivals during Expo https://kempinski-ajman.com/dubai-hotel-occupancy-rate-reaches-80-7-thanks-to-high-number-of-visitor-arrivals-during-expo/ Sun, 28 Nov 2021 08:00:02 +0000 https://kempinski-ajman.com/dubai-hotel-occupancy-rate-reaches-80-7-thanks-to-high-number-of-visitor-arrivals-during-expo/

The UAE hospitality sector hit new highs in October due to high visitor arrivals at Expo 2020 Dubai, with occupancy rates reaching 78.8%, the highest of the month since October 2015, real estate consultancy CBRE reported on Sunday.

In October 2021, hotels in Dubai recorded an occupancy rate of 80.7%, the highest in the country. Hotels in Dubai, Fujairah and Ajman also recorded average daily room rates (ADRs) showing double-digit year-over-year increases to 14.9%, 13.8% and 3.9% , respectively.

“With the start of Expo 2020 and the increase in the number of international visits, we have seen a significant increase in key performance indicators in the United Arab Emirates,” CBRE said in its report.

KPI for the UAE hospitality market,% change year-on-year

The trend is expected to continue in the United Arab Emirates, CBRE said, although it recognizes that the international travel market still has “some way to go” to recover from the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

The UAE has seen an increase in visitor arrivals this year following the reopening of new borders and the easing of restrictions related to COVID-19.

The number of passengers passing through Dubai International Airport, the world’s busiest global aviation hub, reached 20.7 million in the first ten months of the year. By the end of 2021, the number of passengers is expected to reach 28.7 million.

“With increasing international footfall, an increasing number of venues around the world being blocked again and a number of events scheduled for Expo 2020, we expect international and domestic leisure tourism…, Head of Research to Middle East and North Africa (MENA) at CBRE in Dubai.

However, the discovery of a new variant of COVID-19 has raised concerns about the recovery of the travel and leisure markets.

Major travel destinations, including the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Arab Emirates and member countries of the European Union, on Friday decided to suspend flights from African countries after scientists detected a new variant containing a high number of mutations.

Stock markets fell on Friday after the variant was discovered, with airlines and other aviation market companies such as Boeing registering significant drops in their shares.

Global trend

Globally, CBRE noted that the recovery in the number of flights has already slowed this month, partly due to “seasonality” and more recently due to the resumption of lockdowns in recent weeks.

Last month, the number of daily flights reached an average of almost 95,000. In the first 21 days of November, the number fell to around 90,500.

From January to November 21, the number of daily flights is also 28.8% lower than the levels seen in 2019.

“Although this is a marked improvement from 2020, when the average number of daily flights was 42.2% lower than the 2019 comparative figure, it is clear that the global recovery in travel has still had some effect. way to go, ”CBRE said.

The Coral Beach Resort hotel in Sharjah grows and serves its own vegetables https://kempinski-ajman.com/the-coral-beach-resort-hotel-in-sharjah-grows-and-serves-its-own-vegetables/ https://kempinski-ajman.com/the-coral-beach-resort-hotel-in-sharjah-grows-and-serves-its-own-vegetables/#respond Fri, 05 Nov 2021 05:10:00 +0000 https://kempinski-ajman.com/the-coral-beach-resort-hotel-in-sharjah-grows-and-serves-its-own-vegetables/

As local farms gain popularity with the UAE’s top restaurants and pickiest chefs (who imported almost all the ingredients but a few years ago), one Sharjah hotel is taking small steps in harvesting its own harvests, then by including each freshly produced batch in its daily menu.

Coralganic, as the miniature farm is known, was launched on Earth Day in April and is the brainchild of Iftekhar Hamdani, general manager of the Coral Beach Resort area and Bahi Ajman, two hotels owned by Hospitality Management Holding.

A day of harvest is like a day of fortune

Iftekhar Hamdani, Area General Manager, Coral Beach Resort and Bahi Ajman

In just six months, 450 square meters of land, located on the premises of the property, produced more than 60 kilograms of crops which are used in the hotel’s kitchens. “A harvest day is like a lucky day”, says Hamdani The National. “It’s like yesterday when we started with a simple plot and built Coralganic and now we are reaping what we have sown.”

Hamdani says the crops – which include cucumbers, tomatoes, carrots, young radishes, mint leaves and lady’s fingers – are produced using sustainable farming methods and are certified organic. “We have taken small steps and we are learning along the way. Although the quality of the lady’s finger was not very good, the mint and tomatoes grew well all year round.

From the start of its foray into agriculture, the resort formed a “green team” made up of staff from various departments who volunteered to receive training in sustainability and culinary practices. “We hired them to educate them to be part of the journey,” says Hamdani. The hotel also has two gardeners who take care of the farm and manage the green landscape.

Mangroves are part of the UAE’s heritage and it is our responsibility to protect them

Iftekhar Hamdani

Chef Sumeet Soni is also involved in the project. From picking vegetables to infusing them in the buffet, Soni ensures that fresh yield is part of the culinary offerings.

Customers can also choose to be part of the experience. “We take them to visit the farm and show them how we grow the vegetables and then use them in the menu. Hamdani says an Emirati, who has been a patron for 20 years, has noticed the change in the freshness of the food. “This gentleman is a coffee lover, but he now also enjoys the green tea that we serve him with mint freshly picked from our farm.”

The plot of land has already been prepared for the second round, as October through April gives the best harvests, said Hamdani, who is also working to eliminate plastic bottles at the two hotels he manages. .

“I am liaising with the Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort team as they have eliminated plastic bottles from their property by introducing the Infinity water system and we hope to adopt a similar system very soon,” he said. he declares.

The teams are also actively involved in the protection of the mangroves of the Al Zorah nature reserve in Ajman. Mangrove forests are capable of storing 10 times more carbon than terrestrial ecosystems, which puts them at the forefront of climate change, explains Hamdani.

“With sea level rise, mangroves are essential as we believe they will play an important role in protecting our shores from erosion. In my opinion, the mangroves are part of the heritage of the United Arab Emirates, and it is our responsibility to protect them, ”said Hamdani, whose name can be found prominently in the Syria pavilion for the duration of the l ‘Expo 2020 Dubai, in recognition of its eco-friendly efforts.

Travelers to Bahrain will soon be able to stay at the kingdom’s newest hotel. The Vida Beach Resort Marassi Al-Bahrain is preparing to welcome visitors by the end of the year.

The family-owned property will be Emaar’s first hotel in the kingdom and the first Vida resort to open outside the United Arab Emirates.

Located on the Marassi waterfront, the new hotel will give visitors access to a pristine private shoreline and connect directly to the soon to be opened Marassi Galleria Mall in Bahrain, making it ideal for those who enjoy shopping.

With 157 hotel rooms and 141 hotel residences, Vida Beach Resort Marassi Al-Bahrain plans to accommodate both short-term stays and long-term visitors.

All of the hotel’s rooms offer views of the ocean or the island of Diyar al Muharraq. Contemporary interiors let in plenty of natural light and reflect the resort’s waterfront setting.

Minor Hotels recently announced the opening of its first properties in Bahrain, with the launch of Avani Bilaj Al Jazayer Bahrain Resort and Tivoli Bilaj Al Jazayer Bahrain Resort. The properties will welcome guests in 2024.

There was also a lot of buzz on the highly anticipated island of Mantis Bahrain Hawar. Scheduled to open off Bahrain in 2024, the luxury eco-resort will have overwater villas, a wildlife reserve and an on-site adventure park and will only be accessible by private boat or helicopter.

Sydney – Currently anyone entering Australia has to pay thousands of dollars to be isolated in a hotel room.

Sydney is removing the mandatory quarantine for overseas travelers from next month, officials said on Friday, signaling an earlier than expected end to strict coronavirus restrictions.

Australia’s borders have been closed for the past 19 months to prevent the spread of Covid-19, stranding tens of thousands of Australians abroad and leading critics to label the country a ‘hermit state’ .

Currently, anyone entering Australia must be granted a travel exemption and pay several thousand dollars to be locked in a hotel room for 14 days.

New South Wales Premier Dominic Perrottet said that from November 1 fully vaccinated travelers in the state will need to test negative before boarding the plane, but should not have to everything to be quarantined upon arrival.

“For people doubly vaccinated around the world, Sydney, NSW is open for business,” he said. “The hotel quarantine will be a thing of the past. This is an important day for our state.”

Sydney’s 100-plus-day lockdown was lifted last week and the persistent rules are being phased out.

Under a national post-pandemic roadmap, the borders were to gradually reopen in November, with only Australians and permanent residents allowed entry with mandatory home quarantine.

Perrottet’s comments indicate that these restrictions will be removed sooner than expected – tourists can also come to Australia and quarantine requirements removed altogether.

The past 19 months have been devastating for Australia’s tourism industry, with visitor numbers down 98% since before the pandemic, statistics from Tourism Australia show.

The announcement also raises the possibility that residents of Sydney will be allowed to visit Paris but not Perth, as Western Australia’s borders with the rest of the country remain closed.
