Ajman: Ajman’s government has approved a system of flexible working hours for government institutions, authorities and departments affiliated with the emirate government.
Under the system, the working hours of employees will be divided into different periods of arrival at work and departure. Official working hours are from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., while other hours will be considered official flexible working hours, provided the employee agrees to work seven consecutive hours from arrival. At work. Employees are allowed to arrive at work between 7 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., while the end of their shift can be from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., depending on their time of arrival.
Regarding Ramadan working hours, employees will be required to work five hours upon arrival at the workplace. Official working hours are from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. However, with the flexible work schedule system, employees can start their shift at 8:00 a.m. or 10:00 a.m. and end their shift at 1:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m.
The system offers flexible working hours to employees with personal or family responsibilities. It also aims to provide a high level of customer service by offering employees a variety of working hours. This ensures employee satisfaction and, therefore, customer satisfaction.
Employees who must leave the workplace to attend to their personal affairs are entitled to a maximum period of three hours per day and a minimum of 30 minutes of absence from work. If the employee exceeds the three hour period, deductions will be made from his base salary. Employees are entitled to a maximum of seven personal hours per month.
An employee is entitled to a two-hour study break per day, the break starting at 12:30 p.m. The employee must cover at least five hours of work and is allowed to merge a study break with personal hours as long as the total amount does not exceed three hours of work.
As for employees returning from maternity leave, they are entitled to one hour of breastfeeding per day for one year. The one-year breastfeeding period may be extended for an additional three months provided the employee submits a written recommendation from an approved hospital. The breastfeeding hour will be counted in the working hours.
The Central Human Resources Development Administration of Ajman’s Executive Council will be responsible for issuing circulars to all relevant bodies regarding the flexible working hours system.
