The Transport Authority – Government of Ajman (TA) and Visa have signed an agreement to implement open-loop EMV technology for Ajman Bus which will allow passengers to pay for their journey using their contactless Visa cards or devices from everyday.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed during the Congress MOU and the Mena Transport 2022 Expo, the implementation of open-loop EMV technology would make the passenger experience seamless and reduce travel time eliminating the need to queue to purchase tickets or recharge their ticket.
Visa will also work with Transport Authority – Government of Ajman to enhance the existing Masaar card experience by leveraging Visa technology to enable acceptance of Masaar cards at non-transit merchants.

Visa’s urban mobility solutions such as the “Visa Known Fare Transit” model, the “Mobility & Transport Transaction” model and the “Visa Ready for Transit” model are catalyzing the transformation of mass transit globally by reducing infrastructure costs (ATMs and vending machines) and improving the overall customer experience to drive traffic and revenue growth.
