Abdullah bin Zayed and Polish Foreign Minister meet in Warsaw

Warsaw: Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates, and Zbigniew Rau, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Poland, explored ways to consolidate relations between the United Arab Emirates and the Poland in all sectors in order to achieve their mutual interests and benefit the people in both countries.

This came as the UAE’s top diplomat, who is currently visiting Poland, met with his Polish counterpart. Both sides reviewed the latest regional and global developments, including the situation in Ukraine and global efforts to stabilize energy markets.

Minister Rau welcomed Sheikh Abdullah’s visit, stressing its importance in opening up broader perspectives to foster relations in all areas. He highlighted the strong ties between the UAE and Poland and their eagerness to strengthen them further.

The Polish Foreign Minister offered his condolences to Sheikh Abdullah on the occasion of the death of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He also commended the UAE’s considerable efforts to consolidate regional security and stability and maintain international peace and security, as well as its remarkable global humanitarian initiatives.

The meeting was also attended by Eman Ahmed Al Salami, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Poland.

“Cooperation in various fields”

In a joint statement with Polish Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah said, “The United Arab Emirates appreciates the exceptional relations and close ties between our two nations, which include cooperation in various economic, political and cultural fields.” He expressed his pleasure to be in Poland, a country with a long history and an important presence on the international scene.

He added: “Poland’s valuable participation in Expo 2020 Dubai was a clear example of this cooperation and reflects Poland’s cultural and economic capabilities and its ability to innovate and create. During my visit to the Polish pavilion, I enjoyed looking at the ancient designs which highlighted Poland’s willingness to face emerging challenges and foresee the future.

Sheikh Abdullah added: “During the current period, in which the world, at the forefront of which is Europe, is facing difficult and complex challenges, we appreciate Poland’s decisive role. This is evident in the country’s role in addressing international issues by cooperating with neighboring countries to address the humanitarian crisis resulting from the conflict in Ukraine, welcoming millions of refugees with open arms and expanding social safety nets to meet their needs.

“Facing common challenges”

Sheikh Abdullah further commented: “We appreciate Poland’s vital role in facilitating the delivery of aid to Ukraine, including relief supplies from the United Arab Emirates. We believe in the need to intensify efforts to alleviate the severity of crises, in particular by allowing humanitarian aid to reach vulnerable people without any hindrance. We also support Poland by expressing our concern about the high levels of hunger and food insecurity in the world, which compels us to make international efforts and address these common challenges, which is one of my main priorities. .

Elaborating on the matter, he said: “We also welcome all the mediation efforts made by the international community to bring views closer together and promote stability and peace in Europe and in the world. The UAE, as a current member of the [United Nations] Security Council, looks forward to continuing to work with [UN] Member States to resolve the conflict peacefully and through diplomatic means, in accordance with international law and the Charter of the United Nations”.

“Broadening investment horizons”

“Our economic and commercial partnerships reflect the common objectives between our two countries. Last year, non-oil trade increased to about US$1.4 billion, representing a 10% increase over previous years. The UAE has also welcomed more than 37,000 Polish tourists and signed new agreements aimed at broadening horizons for investment and economic cooperation,” Sheikh Abdullah added.

The UAE Foreign Minister said: “We look forward to strengthening ties at all levels, especially renewable energy, health, education and technology, to achieve greater prosperity and stability. for our two peoples”.

“I thank Rau for the warm welcome and the exchange of views on issues of interest, and we look forward to meeting him in the United Arab Emirates,” Sheikh Abdullah concluded.
